We had so much fun going to see the Floats for days of ’47! They were all so amazing and such good ideas. The residents loved going to the Expo Center to see them. They all said how different the floats are nowadays compared to how they were in their time. The residents didn’t know which float to vote for since they were all so great!
Here at Carrington Court we love crafts! We also love it when we decorate our doors to our rooms. What better way to have a little fun by making a craft that goes on the door?! This super simple but super adorable poem was too fun, we just had to use it! Make sure to take a look at our doors to see our wonderful craft we made!
Summer is a great time for a picnic so we decided to make our own! We wove strips or red and white paper together to make our tablecloth, cut out a plate and silverware, and cut and glued pictures of food to make our own delicious meals.
Here at Carrington Court we wanted to give a warm welcome to our new Activities Assistant on the Assisted Living side! Her name is Azia. She was been with us for 2 years. You’ve probably seen her around, she is a CNA as well as a Medtech. Azia is awesome with the residents and loves them as if they were her own family. She will be a wonderful addition to our activities department! In her spare time she enjoys cooking, working out, and watching movies. Azia plans to finish school and get accepted into a Nursing Program. If you see Azia around Carrington Court make sure to say hello!
We enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July with our Memory Care residents as we listened to patriotic music, sang songs, watched a classic Air Force movie and many other activities.
We talked about the Statue of Liberty and made our own crowns…
We made American flags and soldiers…
We even made an American flag CAKE!…
And wreaths for our doors.
Lovella was also able to participate in the Murray 4th of July Parade!
We are so very grateful for our freedom and the wonderful country that we live in and glad we could celebrate with so many veterans and women whose husbands were in the military. Happy 4th!
This afternoon we had the chance to watch some square dancing! They are part of a square dancing club called the Rockettes located in Utah County. There are 25 clubs in all of Utah and they enjoy dancing recreationally, not so much for competitions. Some of the benefits of square dancing is not only physical exercise, but mental exercise as well! Conrad and his group danced for us, we listened to music on the record player and they even taught us a few moves!
It’s SUMMER! and we’ve chosen to welcome the sunshine and blue skies by spending as much time outside as we can!- Thanks to our new gazebo that Michael and Ken built us.
We also brought the ocean to us:
and made our own popsicles:
To celebrate Father’s Day we had a nice family BBQ. The residents had a great time eating handburgers and hot dogs and spending time with their families. We were glad to spend Father’s Day with our wonderful residents!
