Memorial Day

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.
The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.
They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here ‘neath the sand.
I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.
Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,
Thanks for what you’ve given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

For our May outing we were able to go to the Hogle Zoo and had a great time! We are grateful to all of our volunteers who made it possible.

The residents enjoyed seeing the animals and the weather couldn’t have been better!

The Gang's All Here!

May is for FLOWERS

May has been a cheerful month! The weather has been wonderful and we’ve had so much fun learning about flowers! We’ve done flower trivia and crossword puzzles, and looked at beautiful pictures of all different kinds of flowers.

We’ve enjoyed flowers that family members have sent…

as well as the flowers outside…

and the flower wreaths that we made for our doors.

We even made flower crowns…

and flower bouquets.

We love the springtime and the beautiful flowers that make our residents at Carrington Court so very happy!

Happy Mother’s Day!

This week we celebrated the Mother’s at Carrington Court with our annual Mother’s Day dinner. Thank you to all the families who came and the kitchen staff for a great dinner!

It was an honor to celebrate Mother’s Day with these wonderful women.

Kite Craft

030Last week the residents at Carrington Court made these wonderful kites! They made their own  unique designs by using shaving cream and food coloring. They hung them outside of their doors. Next time you are walking around the hallways make sure you take a look!

Mother’s Day Dinner

To celebrate the wonderful mother’s that we have here at Carrington Court we held a dinner for our residents and two of their very special guests. It is our own tradition to hold the Mother’s Day Dinner each year. Being a mother is a wonderful gift. Each one of our residents have not only cared for and raised there own children, but have also loved and cared for the Carrington Court staff as much as we love and care for them. Each one of these mothers has taught and shared so much with us. It was wonderful so see so many smiling faces as we celebrated these amazing women and mothers in our lives. We are so honored to have so many wonderful mothers in our community, each of them have such amazing stories to tell.

Happy Mother’s day to all of you!

Memory Care Arts and Crafts

With our Memory Care residents, group activities make a big difference in the well-being and happiness of the residents. Being together in a group  allows them to talk with each other, tell jokes, and sing songs which in turn lifts everyone’s spirit. We try to incorporate lots of varying activities to suit different interests and skill levels and try to include as many residents as possible in the activity.

Many of the residents enjoy arts and crafts- and we do a lot! Check it out below!
