Easter’s on Its way!

The residents had a great time last Saturday stuffing 1,083 Easter eggs for their grand kids and great grand kids to come hunt for! This Saturday all the kids arrived for a giant Easter egg hunt! It was a great time full of lots of candy, doughnuts and raffle prizes!

Pine Wood Derby!

The Scouts and the Bishop of our ward here at Carrington came last week with a Pine Wood Derby track to race some of the cars that the Scouts made! Each resident picked the car they wanted to race and raced against each other in an elimination battle! Maxine won first place, Floyd won second place and Susan won third place! The residents absolutely loved this activity!

Life Science Museum

The residents went to the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum in Provo Friday afternoon. The Bean Museum houses the Liger Shasta that lived in the Hogle Zoo from when she was born on May 6, 1948, till when she died, on July 12, 1972. The residents really enjoyed this outing, It was all they could talk about the next morning. Enjoy the pictures!

Trip to Ophir

Our residents went on another adventure this last Friday. They went to Ophir, Utah which is an old mining town that really doesn’t get much activity anymore. It has become a “Ghost town.” The residents always enjoy getting out no matter where we end up.

New Memory Care Activities Director

Carrington Court is excited to announce Debby Burke as the new Activities Director of our Memory Care Community.

Debby was born in Murray, UT and attended Murray High School.  She was very active in high school sports; cheerleading, dancing, gymnastics and track.  Debby also held down a full-time job at McDonald’s all during high school.  She would come home from school and change into her McDonald’s uniform and work until 12:00 a.m. and do it all over the next day.  In addition to being involved in high school sports, she also was on the McDonald’s softball team.

Debby worked in the insurance field for 20 years.  Unfortunately, after 9/11 the insurance business ran dry so she changed careers.  She was hired by Pet Smart to manage their Doggy Hotel in Jordan Landing.  Debby remained as the manager of the Doggy Hotel for six years after which time she decided it was time to pursue her dream of working with seniors.

She had been interested in working with seniors since she and her son had volunteered at several assisted livings throughout the valley; and also having a personal experience caring for her stepfather who suffered from many aliments, including dementia and Parkinson’s disease.  In fact, she had been hired as an activities director formally, but was told the day she was about to begin that the previous activities director decided to return after the birth of her baby.

Debby is engaged to be married and puts a high priority on family time.  Having Sunday dinners with her son and fiance is the most enjoyable part of her week!

Note of Interest:  Debbie is also a professional belly dancer

We are very pleased to have Debby Burke as part of our Carrington Court family!
