Citius, Altius, Fortius!

Faster! Higher! Stronger!  is the Olympic Motto inspiring all athletes to do their best. For the past few weeks we’ve celebrated the 2016 Summer Olympics and had a blast!

We started off by making traditional Greek olive branch crowns…

and Olympic torches which we used in our own ceremony to kick off the start of the Olympics.

We made a United States Olympic banner celebrating different sports and another banner of flags from various countries around the world.

We learned about the medals given at the olympics, what they are made of and how many are given out. We also kept track of how many medals the USA was winning in Rio.

We also learned about the Olympic rings and how they symbolize unity between nations. Afterwards, we made a spice cake with m&m Olympic rings to decorate. Delicious!

While doing these fun activities we were able to watch the Olympics Live and experience lots of different sports and events. What a fun couple of weeks!

Welcome U of U students!

We have the fun opportunity to work with some U of U students every Saturday. It’s the start of a new semester, and we are excited to have them here! Today we had a blast playing Mini Golf. Many of the residents use to play Golf as a hobby, and they love to show off their golfing skills! Floyd made three holes in a row, and Dorothy made two in a row! We can’t wait to see what the students have in store for us this semester!

Bus Ride up to Snowbird

Here at Carrington Court, we take our residents out on Bus rides every Friday on the Assisted Living side. It’s a nice way for them to get out, and enjoy seeing new places every week. Today we drove up to Snowbird. Driving up the Little Cottonwood Canyon is so beautiful! Eulala was so scared of the heights while driving by the cliffs, she said she would never live up there even if they bought the house for her! It was a nice ride, on a gorgeous august morning.001 002 004

National Root Beer Float Day!

Another fun day here at Carrington Court in Activities! To change things up a little, We made Root Beer Floats! August 6 is National Root Beer Float day. The residents ate them so fast, and enjoyed this delicious treat. A fun presentation was shared to the residents and they all liked to learn facts about Root Beer! We made them with Vanilla Bean ice cream, and the famous A&W Root Beer! Frank even wanted seconds!   IMG_6223IMG_6224 IMG_6225IMG_6226
